About

After training and working as a journalist, I have since specialised in editing and publishing management, mostly in the healthcare setting. I have over 20 years of experience in publications and communications for the healthcare industry, including five years managing publications for an NHS organisation, and four years as an editor for healthcare communications and medical education agencies.

Since turning freelance in 2010, I have built up successful relationships with a number of clients, including NHS organisations, health charities and healthcare communications agencies. For these clients, I provide writing, editing and proofreading services, as well as publishing project management and website content production. I have written and project-managed a number of annual reports for national healthcare organisations; established branding and house style guides; written regular printed and online newsletters; edited submissions to peer-reviewed medical journals; and produced content for a variety of websites.

Having worked within the healthcare sector, both as an employed editor and publications manager, and as a freelance consultant, I understand the complexities of the healthcare system in the UK; am aware of the requirements for communicating to a variety of different audiences; and realise the importance of information in healthcare, and of communicating that information in an effective manner.

Educated to Masters degree level, I have had extensive training in print and design management, InDesign, advanced Word, PowerPoint, and am highly experienced in a number of content management systems including Drupal and WordPress.
